drugs_don't_make_music
Phil I was at the bar last night, seeing this band perform. She obviously thought she was cute, in those square framed glasses with a bright yellow shirt and blonde hair, randomly bothering people. She eventually fell into the bushes at which point I ventured back inside, without saying anything.
I didn't say anything because of something Bill Hicks said, (he is a comedian) "the musicians who made that music, that has enhanced your lives throughout the years, real fucking high."
I was sitting outside, high off sugary cereal and beer, when I asked this guy sitting there if he was a member of the band. He wasn't, but he knew the bassist. I thought they were good and passed this information along to him.
Then another guy came out of the bar and stood by us, and the two of them sort of had their own conversation.
"I do drugs, acid, cocaine, because I want to be a great musician..."
His girlfriend came out and he warned her to not fall into the bushes, and well, she fell into the bushes. I left without saying anything.
I could have told him about my experiences with drugs, which are overrated in my opinion. That they mostly consist of negative side effects, which interfere with your life.
That people who perform while high are trying to cover up the damage done to them by drugs.
If you can perform well and learn to play, drugs are not going to help you out. I think people give drugs credit for making music.
Drugs were a part of the '70s, but why repeat what has been done? Learn from it and outperform them, while listening and learning from gifted musicians, who were burnt up and lost forever.
I guess people are stupid. Not the kid trying to use drugs, but the people supplying the idea that drugs make musicians great.
