Lilac I hate those people who insist on saying this no matter who sneezes or when.

I was sitting in the middle of class today and this girl said it after this guy sneezed and he shushed her.

I thought it was funny because for the first time he said something that didn't annoy me to stop something that did.

margadant11 so what would you rather they say? I just curious... what annoys you so much about it? It is just someone being polite. Although I can't say that I say it... I just stay out of it I mean what business is it of mine if a person sneezes? 030112

x it's not polite at all. i find it offensive that some random person would presume to "bless me" because I sneezed! it comes from an ancient stupid idea that when you sneeze, demons can get down your throat. so it's also a reminder of human stupidity. 030112

moron If somebody sneezes you have to tackle them and punch them in the kidney and jot there name down in a little book. 030113

ozone bleshu had battled g'luck for many centuries and when the God of Pollen, Dust and Mold intervened, he simply told them to do no more fighting because
g'luck
is more appropriate and will thus be coined the afterphrase of sneezing. so there.
if you want to be polite and considerate to the sneeze-afflicted, say g'luck or gluck or good luck or you can do it champ or whatever

dandy I always say gesunheit just to avoid ordering god around.

See it, say it, be it. blessings.

"An intuitive person with a sharp eye who used to be super critical shared with me, "I used to view people negatively. If someone had a fault, that’s all I saw. And who doesn’t have faults. I emitted a subtle message to people that they were unworthy and of less value than myself. I would get feedback that people tended to feel uncomfortable in my presence.

"Long ago a friend told me, ‘Bless people in your mind.’ This went in one ear and out the other. But recently I heard someone say this again. For some reason I was more receptive to try it. I can attest that this is a powerful practice. I now recommend this to everyone I can. Again and again I hear from people that they enjoy my company. I had never heard this before I started mentally blessing people."
