"if we had a keen vision and feeling of all ordinary human life, it would be like hearing the grass grow and the squirrel's heart beat, and we should die of that roar which lies on the other side of silence." ~george eliot puppertwinkle's sudden burst of surprise, like a heavy rock disturbing the surface of a still pond, shook saumboo from his malaise. he turned his face to the sound of the little dog's voice. "cual es el?" he asked, wondering what this distinctive resonance could indicate. the ragged end of his last word seemed to float in the air, where it had been torn off. puppertwinkle hoped there could be even the slightest sense of expectation in his tone, as if curiosity alone could momentarily relieve his grief, but fuck no, there was nothing but the utterance of oblivion, a fog with a tongue and lips speaking. although saumboo could not see him, puppertwinkle was shaking his head back and forth in disbelief, but said nothing out loud for there was a small placard laying on top of the startling, shocking discovery in present two. what the placard said: PELIGRO. NO DIGA A SAUMBOO CUALES ES ESTO HASTA USTED EMPUJA EL BOTON DEL "FW" EN ALCANCE DEL MUNDO. basically, the little dog was instructed to retrieve the mahogany scope (named, alcance del mundo, "it reaches the world" by its original owner) and push the FW button before telling anything to saumboo. puppertwinkle looked at the contents again. the wings of feignez. he inspected them with scrutiny. there was still a strong presence of blood at the area where they were once attached to the woodpecker's body. he could also sense a smell of panic that permeated these black and white feathers of flight. the memory of her screams and obscenities as saumboo and frau werzenwozen violently yanked them from her constrained body were vivid as the reality of the wings themselves. the little dog felt a rush of heat upon his face like one that stands too close to the fire. he never liked to keep anything from saumboo, especially considering he was his eyes incarnate and was counted on with utmost trust to keep him aware of everything in this dangerous world. but, with this exclusive warning, he was faced for the first time, with hiding the truth.
