She often thought about dancing salsa in a small bar in Spain, cutting through the nicotene haze, leaning slowly back, and then whipping her head forward with such force that it would snap off like the breaking of a pencil. She dreamed of drinking wine in Italy. Sitting in an outside parlor by a towering fountain that had been spurting water since long before her great grandfather's great grandfather walked this planet. She dreamed of walking alone through the street fairs of Saigon. This one approaching her with that object and that one approaching her with this. Not having any idea of wht they were saying but wanting to buy it all. She dreamed of scuba diving in the Galapagos. Fish swimming by in a world that no one ever sees. Looking at a world of which she could never populate and visit only once or twice. She dreamed of being in a classroom drawing pictures of lions with purple crayons. They were eating blueberries (also purple) because we all know that a purple lion's dream is to find a patch of blueberries and gorge himself on them. It was at that time that all of these worlds were only nextdoor. She could go out and play whenever she wanted. She went to the back room, gathered her things that she had spent three days packing. She had thrown out so much and yet the stack was till sizable. She set her final cup of coffee on the counter as the cabbie annoyingly blared his horn.
