Stopping offensive operations won't help anything. But respecting Geneve conventions relative to war and prisoner treatment would be a good deal. I mean, aren't the Americans supposed to be the good guys ? Aren't they supposed to show an example of what is "civilisation" ? I heard some jerk on kuro5hin the other day saying "we don't care about abuse because Saddam did much worse", but the thing is - Saddam was the bad guy. Of course, America is afraid now that all the Al Quaeda terrorists are coming to Iraq, since Saddam is not here anymore to control his country (does anyone here knows that Saddam was a laic dictator, hated by the muslim fundamentalists of Al Q. ?) ; and this is the reason why the U.S. government gave orders to torture the prisonners - because some of them might have relevant data which may help capturing the real terrorists. But now face it : U.S. army is arresting and torturing people at random. They have no intelligence in the country and the Iraqi population is less and less collaborative, when not openly hostile. And every innocent tortured adds to that. So, what now ? Fleeing away as you did in Somalia ? Or mass-murdering civilians as you did in Viet-Nam ? Or bombing renegade towns with A-bombs as you did in Japan ? Or finding a solution that involves the international community, and which would start by sincere apologies towards the victims of your crimes, and maybe go through solving the Israel/Palestine conflict ? History will judge America, history will judge Bush and his team. Do not think history can be modified and falsified forever. Do not think Big Brother will win. For now you are still a democracy, so maybe this is time to wake up, clear the eyes of all the crap CNN and NBC shows 24/7, and do something, don't you all think ?

From the iraqi general who will probaly take command of the new Iraqi Army when the US turns over civil control more completely to Iraq::: ""We can make them (the Americans) use their rifles against us or we can make them build our country, it's your choice. They were brought here by the acts of one coward who was hunted out of a rat hole - Saddam - who disgraced us all. As President Bush said (that's right, one of Saddam's generals quoting President Bush,) they did not come here to occupy our land but to get rid of Saddam. We can help them leave by helping them do their job, or we can make them stay ten years and more by keeping fighting."
