SISYPHUS: HI Honey I'm Home MRS SISYPHUS: How was your day dear? SISYPHUS: Oh, you know, same old same old. MRS SISYPHUS: Did you speak to...you know, like we talked about. SISYPHUS: Well, you know... MRS SISYPHUS: You didn't talk to him did you. SISYPHUS: He's very busy. I don't like to bother him, especially when, well you know he was pretty unequivocal about the deal. MRS SISYPHUS: You want to push a rock up a hill your whole life? SISYPHUS: Well, you know, I kind of like working outdoors. Sure it's kind of pointless but the thing is, after I've pushed that heavy uncomfortable piece of granite all that way, I do get a tangible sense of achievement. MRS SISYPHUS: It just rolls back down to the bottom again. EVERY TIME. SISYPHUS: Yeah, but..it's hard to describe but after I've watched it go down and I know that all I can do is walk back down to the bottom and start pushing again. I get this...feeling. MRS SISYPHUS: Feeling? What feeling? SISYPHUS: I don't know how to describe it. It's not happiness, exactly, more like, oh I don't know, resignation sounds a bit too negative. MRS SISYPHUS: So I have to take the pitying looks of the women at the sewing circle on the basis of a "feeling". You get a tingle of some indistinct philosophical profundity and we have to spend our whole lives with nothing more to look forward to than, than...more of this. SISYPHUS: Look it's not like you didn't know who I was before we got married. MRS SISYPHUS: I know, I know, but I thought there might at least be some kind of training program. I didn't realise it would be quite so bloody...relentless SISYPHUS: Hey, it's not like I see you out there pushing. MRS SISYPHUS: I know, I know, we're all very grateful for what you do. We know you've made sacrifices. SISYPHUS: I mean, the relentless is kind of the point. MRS SISYPHUS: Okay, whatever. Keep pushing the rock. SISYPHUS: You know, maybe in a few more millenia, they might... MRS SISYPHUS: Yeah, yeah they might. It's okay. I just can't help wishing there was more to life than this. SISYPHUS: Well you know, philosophically speaking... MRS SISYPHUS: Can we cut the philosophy, just for one night, honey Okay? SISYPHUS: Sure sure. I'm sorry I brought it up. What's for dinner? MRS SISYPHUS: Meatloaf. SISYPHUS: What, again?
