In a few minutes I'll get up, go up the stairs, up out of the ground, out of the noise of machines, the electrical lights, the industial smell. I'll close the door behind me, and be blind. There is no outside lighting here, only what nature provides. Walking the couple hundred yards to my car can be quite a challenge on a foggy or moonless, and overcast night. It can be so dark that my eye's photophosphenes create more visual effect than does the ambient light. This gives the world a pointellistic look and I'll walk with my arms outstretched like Frankenstien to keep from running into trees, And yes, I'll walk very slowly. Its really fun, I own a flashlight, but enjoy "extreme strolling".

Into the night we run Darkness envelopes us We don't know where we're going But we know it's somewhere Anywhere but here you always said Into the night we run We can finally get away Into the night we run We couldn't do it during the day Into the night we run We'll get away if we may My futile attempt at a poetic effort can be viewed above. Mount 'em up boys, we ride tanight. .

I'm still underground, in the bright electric light. Within minutes I'll log off, put on my back pack, and go up to the surface. For the first few minutes I'll be as good as blind. There will be no electic lighting outside. In deep country, the only light comes from celestial sources. I expect it to be foggy, its 1:30 am, and probably no moon. As my eyes slowly adjust, vague form/shadows will appear. I'll start the walk to my car with my arms outstretched to protect my face from collisions with? The walk is about a couple hundred yards, over a bridge and through a redwood grove. When its foggy the redwoods rain on themselves. Thats why they like this coastal area. I will be rained on in the blackness. I love this part of my day, the darker the better. For me its Xtreme sports and a good suspence movie rolled into one. Well, into the night I go.
