whee! i have a fondness for both eyeballs and happy dead things, but i specifically collect eyeballs... i have eyeball candles, an eyeball pinata that i passed candy out of one halloween when there was a dead pigeon on our porch, eyeball pencil toppers, an eyeball plasic dolls with arms and legs, eyeball candies, an eyeball candy dispensers, an eyeball hibounce ball, flaming eyeball postcards...
while i can sort of explain the fascination with happy dead things (i'm a hippiegoth), i can't really explain the eyeballs. i think they're both a way of taking something creepy and having fun with it, turning the morbid into a joke. and, eyes being such a vital single aspect of a human being... so delicate, but the most used sensory input device... the "windows to the soul", so expressive... plus, for both, many of my sentimental objects become like friends, so it's just natural that many of them should carry some trace of humanity.
