And yet, it's all a big put-on. The fear is still there, with all of us running like hell from the specters that grin from the blackness of our conditioning..intentional or otherwise. This is the deep truth behind the tradition of training athletes to believe in their invincibility..in their impending victory. Here and there is the shrewd hunter who is confident in his ability to find food. This one is rarely disappointed. We are like the hunter who is afraid of coming back empty-handed. We create our failure, and waste our time. We see our mistakes but ignore them to create our habits which, when they aren't guided..become foolish circles in the snow. We come back with the same results again and again..and we tire. Those that don't pat themselves on the back and trudge on around their circles. And some convince themselves that they've figured it out and they are convinced they are out to hunt, not fail. They buy their camouflage gear. They get their "deer rut scent" and their game calls. They buy the best scopes and head out into the woods..without ever understanding that these trappings only advertise how little confidence they have in their abilities in this universe which bestows blessings according to belief and ability.
