falling_alone I took a movement and voice workshop, once, with Jean-Renee Toussaint, who told me there was a fire inside waiting to be released. This he said after repeatedly screaming at me to paint the ceiling with color, use my voice, to paint, to punch holes through the ceiling.

I find that my hands become my voice.
They create and when they create they are always searching. I search constantly for a new voice with them.
Every project is like this for me. I create not only costumes but worlds for the artists I work with. Together we create something that never was.

falling_alone The materials influence the process and the process evolves the product. The research and development of the garment is often times more important to me than the final result. The result to me could end up being a failure, but by pushing myself beyond the traditional means of design, I am expanding the vocabulary I have for the next world I create. 160127

falling_alone Often I work with directors without a script. I become an integral part in the creative process, I have the opportunity to shape how the actors are influenced in the piece before words are set to the page.

Together we work to a create a world from emotion and image.
The garments become the vessel which conveys the emotion.

the answers come from a world of exploration, we use the phrase "throw shit against the wall and see what sticks", run with it, expand upon it, digest it, shit it out again, and mold it into something else.

(how do i say this less crudely)

Collaboration is the cornerstone of the work. An element disconnected will weaken the story.
