property is theft. property is liberty. property is impossible. consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.

Information Wants to be Free If nature has made any one thing less susceptible than all others of exclusive property, it is the action of the thinking power called an idea, which an individual may exclusively possess as long as he keeps it to himself; but the moment it is divulged, it forces itself into the possession of everyone, and the receiver cannot dispossess himself of it. Its peculiar character, too, is that no one possesses the less, because every other possesses the whole of it. He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. That ideas should freely spread from one to another over the globe, for the moral and mutual instruction of man, and improvement of his condition, seems to have been peculiarly and benevolently designed by nature, when she made them, like fire, expansible over all space, without lessening their density at any point, and like the air in which we breathe, move, and have our physical being, incapable of confinement or exclusive appropriation. Inventions then cannot, in nature, be a subject of property. -Thomas Jefferson

There once was a man who fought to be King of the Hill, he went through vast armies to conquer and to have ownership of a hill and all of the people in the kingdom. There were mighty wars staged, men, women and children had lost their lives for this man...this man who sought ownership...till one day at last he had lunged the last sword. There at his feet fell his last enemy...It was his brother. He had conquered all. Exhausted...he climbed the hill to look over his vast treasures. He then straightened the ring on his finger that had been passed on to him by his father's father's. There in the valley ... fires, death and an ocean of bodies all for the ownership of nothing... He then felt ill.... a sharp pain in his chest, he fell to his knees clutching at the heart that was no longer there. There is nothing we have, that can't be taken away. the only thing that i lay claim to is my spirit and soul...even then, can we claim ownership?

is silly. what does it matter that you OWN one thing or another, or how many things you own? it doesn't, those are all just leaves that hang from you. those leaves fall off. it's what's left when they're all gone that will show who and what you really are.
