Rhin i wrote this last Halloween for myself. i think it may be posted elsewhere here in blather? anyway, it was an extremely windy night. i could hear the limbs from the trees brushing against the side of my house. i began to think of childhood, and of things going bump in the night. i can remember every creak and groan of the entire 3rd floor of my childhood home. the memories always come flooding back on all hallow's eve/Halloween, because that was the most unbearable night of them all. Things that go bump... As the night wears on and the fierce gails blow what makes those sounds that all the children know? The scrape, scrape, scrape of an old Oak's limb rises up to the window like an evil twisted grin. Shadows begin to dance and the creaks play a tune the sounds become a chatter bouncing about the room. The little one's hide away shivering in their rounda'bouts their blankies pulled tight and their feet sticking out. The night continues on and the chairs begin a rockin' while the terror only builds as the bumps come a knockin'. The older one he says ain't no use in bein' skeered 'cause their ain't no place on Earth that the bumps ever feared. So if you hear them too just skiver in your bed he said it plain and clear the bumps'll whip ya dead.
