"i brought something wonderful for you," the sugar girl said, setting the bag of oranges down. "i think you will like one of these?" she extended her hand that contained one succulent orange comfortably in her palm. she smiled and her teeth were absolutely perfect. puppertwinkle cocked his head sideways and studied her. his nostrils flared as he watched her deftly peel off the smooth skin and biflavonoid-rich inner covering. citrusy fragrance and light sprays of juice filled the air around them. this was a calculated effort on her part to prolong puppertwinkle's waiting. she wanted his appetite to build as long as possible, for a hungry dog was an oblivious dog. she could snatch him up much easier when he was consumed by consuming, during the premeditated process of satisfying his craving. and so, if you think that the sugar girl is one of proina's cronies, guess what? you are correct. "here you go, little puppy-boy," the sugar girl crooned, "all for you, cause you're such a good boy." she halved the orange, its lucious, juicy flesh shining in the early morning light, a jewel of the bianca strada. she broke it into several bite-sized pieces and reverently placed them on the grass. "enjoy!" she said, and took two ballet-like steps backwards. puppertwinkle barely hesitated. his trembling stopped and was replaced by excited tail-wagging. his paranoia ceased and was exchanged with celebratory sneezing. the recent murderous action of the sugar girl smashing her newborn child was forgotten in the presence of this sudden meal. food was his panacea and the sugar girl had studied well. she would be a hero in the kingdom of broken glass. puppertwinkle got up on his back legs and barked. "oh mother of dogs!" he cheered. "oranges are my absolute favourite!" (every food was his favourite.) "you are the sweetest girl ever, and not just because you are made of sugar." it was here that he broke into an impromptu song. the tune was similar to something on a la luz de san maros record his grandma used to play. he sang along with por todo el mundo when he was a wee pup. "las naranjas, oh, naranjas el esperar en mis pies peque as mordeduras del cielo estoy a punto de comer en mi boca usted es glorioso est mago repentinamente victorioso la sopresa de mi momento es un convite" translated: "oranges, oh oranges waiting at my feet little bites of heaven i'm about to eat in my mouth you are glorious stomach suddenly victorious the surprise of my day is this treat."
