My favorite jazz pianist. Worked best in a trio. Once, in a club in New York, there was some commotion...police were escorting someone out. Garner came down to see what was going on. The bouncee was such a fan that even though he had no money, he had hired a cab and left if waiting outside, figuring he would stay and listen as long as he could before all hell broke loose. So Errol payed the cab driver, and set his new found fan up at the bar. And played his favorite tunes. You gotta love someone like that

Brad....thank you, it is just the kind of mistake i would make. i am holding a 1950's "Guest Star" Records release on which his name is as i've spelled it, it is the way i remember it...but there is still a chance you could be right....(i.e. i haven't seen his birth certificate) eeby deeby

Well Brad, i am getting old and senile i guess..i found some cassette tapes with his name spelled with two l's....in MY handwriting. Obviously i don't even remember what i think i remember. On further digging in my dust archives, on all of the Columbia records it is spelled as you have it. So i definitely stand corrected....a pleasure to know he is not forgotten eeby deeby

Never trust those old "guest star" sides. I have a Tito Puente one. Hehe... those things seem to be everywhere.

they can't ruin his music tho (nor those incredible adlibbed lyrics) a recording studio exec. complained to Eroll ; "damn it Eroll", you never play anything the same way twice." Errol (shrugs and holds his hands palms up)...."i tries"
