fyn gula did you ever read "james and the giant peach?" remember when the birds were attached to the peach and pulled it to new york city and it got stuck on the top of the empire state buiding?

the portuguese rescue squad pulled the wooden cart much the same way. however, as they commenced up the steep incline and desperately hoped for flight, they slipped on the loose pebbles and immediately sensed a loss in momentum.

"this is a fucking lost cause," one of the storks thought to himself. even though he lived in portugal, he thought in french because he was born and raised in lyon. the parrots cursed. the herons shouted encouragement and somehow they managed to fly.

yet, each one of them in these moments of quiet desperation when one is forced to accept that failure is inevitable, noticed that the strain they experienced as they struggled with the weight of the cart, was stronger than anything they ever felt before in their lives.

still they pulled because it was what they were suppossed to do. their strength was simply amazing. they reached the halfway point of the acclivity and dared not look back because they knew that miracles are moments in history and are not ways of life. tragedy shares equal time with triumph.

they looked over at each other and their eyes were mirrors because in them they saw their own fear of disaster.

when the ropes broke, there was nothing they could do but watch the wooden cart roll treacherously backwards down the hill. it caught a large rock and with the force of the impact, the cart splintered immediately and turned cartwheels (pardon the pun) over and over.

the occupants were tossed like rag dolls.
