curse_the_cyclists pete seems to be a popular past time of some people... so far it has happened twice to me.. just biking along.. the first time i was biking down a hill on the canal bike path, far side where queen elizabeth drive goes.. at the bottom of the hill a man and his son were walking their bikes beside eachother. i had no problem with this, and passed them on the grass as they were taking up the entire bike trail and i was going to fast to stop (using my breaks any more heavily than i was would have been bad news). as i pass them the father yells out: "Hey asshole! Watch what you are doing! Some people like to enjoy the trail. Fuck, I hate assholes like you!" I mean, who was being the asshole, the kid on his bike trying to get to work ontime, or the two people taking up the entire bike trail forcing me onto the grass? The second time just happened. I was at the top of Merivale Hill (one of those places I assigned my own name too) and this man dropped his comb. He picked it up, dusted it off, and looked at me. He blinked, then yelled after me. "Fuck you buddy, I know your type! I got in an accident because of you, faggot. Fuck off buddy I hate you. Don't come back or I'll kick your ass. Fuck you! Faggot!" Now, was it worth using such biggotish terms at me, for riding my bike as he dropped his comb. I mean I am the one who is less likely to crash with someone. It is the drivers, in my experience, who are oblivious to the existance of bikers who cause most of the problems. Of course there are arrogant bikers, but that guy, at his bus stop, had no reason to curse me. I was merely on my way home from the bank. Some people in Ottawa make no sense.
