by starlight i'll kiss you and promise to be your one and only i'll make you feel happy and leave you to be lost in mine and where will we go, what will we do? soon said i, will know dead eyes, are you just like me? cause her eyes were as vacant as the seas dead eyes, are you just like me? and all along, we knew we'd carry on just to belong by starlight i know you as lovely as a wish granted true my life has been empty, my life has been untrue and does she really know, who i really am? does she really know me at last dead eyes, are you just like me?

And by starlight, i mean the dim-lights in the basement of your step-dad's house until he gets home from work and makes me leave.

by starlight and moonlight we all scrambled out of the window, onto the balcony, and sat on the grassy hill clandestine cigarettes to feel naughty with (too much coughing to actually DO anything; just to feel dangerous) sat on the grass and stared and stared the stars were so close it was like God pulled down the sky just for us and sprinkled some more on the dark hills ahead everything a-glitter in the cool, cold blue-white light we stared, starved for a sky like this climbed up a balcony for a better view drank it all in and then got cold (it was february i think, maybe march) and had to go in to pretend we had been inside like we were supposed to be all along not outside with our breath puffing its own smoke and eyes alight in wonder to last a lifetime.
