what would I do?

grendel i almost sent someone a dozen blue roses but they are kind of hard to come by and were a little out of my price range that day (and time was against me), so i opted for the next best thing, a special breed of white roses with mixed pink and red petal tips

she was absolutely thrilled to get them...
...a fact which was diminished slightly when she found out that i was the one who had sent them

nocturnal personally, I'm not the kind of girl that would be too excited about getting roses. it's overdone. if someone's gonna send me flowers, I want them to show some thought. everyone seems to think, hey, I did something shitty, I need to apologize; or, it's valentine's day; I should get her roses. boring! I need more than that. I'm a bit high-strung, I know. but I can't help it if I expect a lot from people, I have standards, you know. 010607

florescent light I agree with you nocturnal.
anyone can go out any buy me a rose
but I want someone who puts some thought behind what they get- the pebble that they found on the street on the way over to my house could have more meaning than any jewlery or flower could ever possibly posess. (though diamonds are always a thrill)
If I am going to give a gift, it is going to mean something, or I will stick with a card.

grendel ok, then, lemme get this straight

even if i step up beyond the ordinary red, white, yellow or pink roses and go with something a bit more unusual (and the perfect poem to go with them)
i'm still off?

damn.

torus I have always been in the habit of sticking sardines in to the flower arangements that I give my girlfriends. I have always been dumped for this.
