i think for the most part the changes we think of when we think social constructs of age and identity...those personality traits and stages we describe somewhat nebulously as becoming a man or woman, or entering the frailties of adolescent or leaving the security of childhood, are, on the whole, unpredictable...they differ from person to person and are subject to a number of variables...but for the most part, on average, they correspond to reliable chronological numbers. this is especially true due to common experience in a society which tries to standardize our ages so that our souls match our numbers. still, some variables are out of society's hands...i dare say most are. we can only hope they choose wisely the most natural intersection of clock tickings and cell tickings to force upon us. i had a zeitgeist when i was around you. a lust of life...i wanted to learn things...accumulate the world and share it with you. i looked at the lights in the distance and i wanted to believe they pointed to something, there was something behind them. that they weren't just a diminishing. i'm a tricky liar. like all good liars...you have to have one or two real skills so you can tell someone you can do something and when they don't believe you you can bust it out. the more ridiculous the better...breakdancing would work. they'll see that and wonder, if he wasn't lying about that, what else is he not lying about. and they'll often pass over all the mundane things they were more willing to believe when they dismissed the breakdancing. it's just game theory. like clue. i actually belive my own lies. that gives me a lot of power where other liars sometimes falter. however, it also is a weakness other liars don't have.
