I have always thought that most people stray from their betrothed (current squeeze or significant other) to get a taste for that love rush. And those stayers know full well that the love rush will inevitably lead to, well, post romantic stress disorder - for want of a lovelier term. The physical lust bit is just a convenient and cheap reason if not an excuse or proffered explanation. Its the thrill of new love we seek and with it the crippling pain. That hell - that period, your honour, which I will henceforth refer to as "the disorder." Its usage I will have to define but me thinks, as a starter, it could be: "What’s wrong with Steve?" might be asked concernedly. And if "It is the disorder" is the reply then: No further questions would be asked as no more explanation would be needed.
