epitome of incomprehensibility

Elizabeth Filips in "You're Not Lazy: How to Live a Chaotically Organised Life" says not to beat yourself up for wasting time. Instead, ask yourself what need/interest you were trying to fulfil, and then pursue that in a way you feel better about.

On avoiding misinformation and the urge to judge things right away: "Find the context and do the research on the who and the why of the information you're consuming - find the primary sources, look into the history of the person saying it, or even just scroll through their timeline." From https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjX3pncKF4s&t=1887s - I recommend all of this, which I just finished watching today (started earlier, put it off because when I wasted time on YT it'd mostly be silly stuff) although the video maker, Dead Domain, does insert some snark, so it's not all Serious and Miserable (but it does kind of make me paranoid about AI-generated images...and then I fear THAT'S the kind of knee-jerk response I'm being warned against in the first place...but anyway.)

Comments analyzing this sketch - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/tKlo1D4TYyM - to the effect of 1) Answer questions honestly - e.g., you don't have to say you like a food when you don't. (Apparently Germans are more forthright about this kind of thing than Canadians - so said the immer_immersion teachers last year.) 2) But unsolicited negative feedback just comes across as rude. ...Also, the sketch is just funny to me because I liked pretty much everything I ate in Germany...except sauerkraut.

Actually helpful pop-psych: "Procrastination isn't a worry about starting things, it's a worry about finishing things." At least sometimes it's that. I'm not always afraid to start a new task; sometimes it's more that I'm worried how long the new task going to take. Because it's new, and I don't have a time-frame reference. Or I'm nervous about switching from what I'm currently doing because I'm afraid I won't get back to it.
