fyn gula barely able to move against the resistance, puppertwinkle began a perilous five foot trek towards frau werzenwozen to carry out saumboo's request. the merciless wind flattened the little dog's ears straight back and pushed hard against him, causing him to lose his balance several times and wobble like a stumbling drunk on his way to nowhere. he shut his eyes tight to guard against flying debris and then opened them again to locate frau werzenwozen. he found her busy with the leather tarp that was straining to blow away. she had tri-colored hemp rope and was reinforcing the ends for the wicked gusts threatened to rip it off the wooden cart's frame. she worked with precision, tying knots as the gales tossed her raven black hair out of their tight cinnamon buns.

just before puppertwinkle attempted to gain her attention, he noticed one of the human flowers, a white daisy, was missing several petals. she huddled next to the seedless dandelion, who looked like a lollipop not quite finished. he wrapped his jagged-toothed leaf arms around her with protective compassion and soothed her with positive reassurance, but there was an unmistakeable appearance of fear on her face that was reflected in several other human flowers. they realized with sinking desperation that a severe wind storm could be the end of them all. even the tulip, whose flower head bent nearly to the ground and was ceaseless in his attempts to come to the aid of his comrades was losing hope. he had lost half of his petals already.

puppertwinkle barked for her attention but the wind carried his voice away unheard. he tried over and over and finally she noticed him.
