it depends. if it's something they need to get out of, i help to scheme the ways out. if it's fear and anxiety, i get them to talk about it, and then i joke around about the fallacies in their reasoning, which doesn't really work too well. i soothe them with the possibilities and i point out the choices that they make or could make, or would make, or whatever. i think it's the "soothing" that helps the most, though, but i've got to make it believable. sometimes, i don't really soothe people, i just argue with them. i'm in a bad mood today.
