I was plenty happy with Google_Personal_Pages. Same page, same functionality, but the name change just strikes me... wrong. It lands on my ear like a decision made by a room of marketoids trying to be "hip" and just coming off as retarded instead.

I'll agree with you that the name pretty much sucks. Adding a lowercase 'i' to anything is pretty much out unless your trying to blatantly rip off something from Apple.

It all started with the iMac. As it was originally conceived, the iMac was to be an internet appliance, so "Internet Mac" or "iMac".
Apple branded a few accessories "iWhatever", and a trend was born, to be firmly cemented with the "iPod". Though by the time they coined that name, it was less about "internet" and more about the "i" being identified with Apple's products.
Making it even more silly for Google to adopt it, above and beyond the me_too factor.
