amoeba
miniver What a great word, you know?
And amoeboid!

Man!

I wish I were amoeboid. I wish "amoeba" were like "the" or "a", or "I", so I could use it in almost every sentence.

You can almost hear the cilia flatulating around that word.

Hey, and look at this definition from Websters: "naked rhizopod protozoans with lobed and never anastomosing pseudopodia". Who knew the damned pseudopodia on those crazy naked rhizopod protozoans never anastomosed! Who knew, I ask you?

smeefy the words "elbow amoeba" together form the most beautiful pair of words in the English language

which is funny since neither elbows nor amoebas are beautiful

smeefy yes, the whole "elbow amoeba" thing got started when I heard that "cellar door" bit... but really cellar door isn't all that pretty... so I tried to come up with something new. Elbow amoeba has a lovely rhythm to it. I think that man would have come up with it himself, only amoebas weren't known of at the time.

Or were they?

hmmpf i don't think they knew about amoebas... but i wouldn't know. it was Poe who said it, right?

you have a point though, "elbow amoeba" sounds very smooth, soothing, rolls off your tongue.

ahh... the beauty of the english language...
