of course the worst day of the year and the cat won't leave me alone. a wiser person than me once said, it's because cats only recognize their own needs. i had thought that it was compassionate wisdom on my cats part, that he knew i needed someone to persistently need me. still moreso than cats, we learn quicker when to resign, when to press forward. and yet, within us, we are no different. what is our sadness but a mewling kitten, demanding to be fed, pushing over and over again the learned patterns, which door to purr at for affection, how to stand in front of the food dish, the shedding of niceities when gradual disinterest is shown to their lives, to the rich sprawling jungle, they are always half alone in, they leave behind for your attentiveness. they will never understand that you do not understand because no matter what you give, it is more than they have gotten out there. and so my cat will not leave me alone until i feed it. usually at the expense of my sadness starving for one more day.

I'd like to cheer her up, but she's aloof and probably hates me anyways. But I wish she was happy.

i like kitties and the way they curl up in the crooks of your limbs. it makes me feel cosy and snuggly and i love it. who cares if they're only there 'cause its too comfy to leave?

a_cat_named_butterscotch even at age 2 she still sounds like a kitten, she is small and with her big eyes, the plaintive mew she gives when she wants attention always gets me like it did when she was small enough to sleep in my palm
