Syrope as an in class typist for deaf students, i've realized that people who can't hear themselves sigh/don't realize how exasperated they sound to other people...have more expressive sighs than most people.

Flowers from Safeway That's really interesting. I'm fascinated by blind and deaf people, hence the ztupid question (that got very little response)

Do deaf people use sarcasm? I only ask because sarcasm is usually detected by tone of voice.

I'm curious

misstree i've only known two deaf people in passing, worked with one of them at a hole in the wall bar, he was able to speak to a limited extent... i believe he did use sarcasm, a bit more difficult to convey, but it was stuff like "yeah, the owner's a real nice guy" just before he climbed a twelve foot ladder to clean out the light fixtures and stuff. (actually, the owner *was* nice, he was just an overenthused and meticulous cokehead to most of the other employees. he left me alone because i showed extreme competence. :)

i was just thinking that i should answer those two last questions, but each would take a bit of writing, and will thus likely wait until i'm a bit more awake, and have gotten a little work done. :)

(hooray ztupid_questions! even if i don't answer, they still make me think.)

Syrope i would think it depends on when they lost their hearing
like... people who were born deaf would have more problems with it than those who lost hearing later, because they'd have been exposed to it. and i know deaf people who can use sarcasm but have problems picking it up.

i think its a good question.
