epitome of incomprehensibility CBC broadcast an interview with Margaret Atwood last morning, and I was dawdling in my salad-making even though that made me late for work. (Boss B. is still late with my payments; I suppose payback is immature, but any excuse-port in an Atwood-interview-storm, right?) Anyway. Two highlights:

-The journalist asking her about having a morbid_sense_of_humour or the like, and her answering that sometimes life just juxtaposed odd things...like that time her sister stowed a pet cat wrapped in fabric in the freezer (it made sense in context, sort of).

-Another question about how it felt like to write a certain passage, and her taking it semi-literally: how does it feel like? Ask a downhill skier how it feels like to ski, and they'll say they just push off and go. So writing, it feels like it always does, it feels like putting a writing implement to paper and making words down, then going over the words until I'm happy with how they fit together.

...which was maybe a bit sarcastic but not sarcastic to be mean. Unlike J.K. Rowling on Twitter going, "Oh, I'm glad not *everything* I write should now be trashed for crimethink" or something. Don't play the martyr part if you're going to be an ass, JKR. Peter Martyr Vermigli can do that, since that's his middle name.

ANYWAY. Maybe I don't think Margaret Atwood is the High Priestess of Canadian Letters - we can be non-hierarchical here, no? - but she does have ways with words.

-Oh, and she said things about losing her partner, about widowhood, that were both practical and profound, but I was distracted at that point so I didn't catch it all.
