harder
raze
the
head
of
this
pedestal
fan
is
at
least
half
as
old
as
mine
.
the
threads
that
hold
it
in
place
have
weakened
with
age
,
and
now
its
neck
shakes,
and
i
hear
it
rattling
all
through
the
night
.
it's
probably
been
doing
that
from
the
beginning
,
but
for
years
it
was
quiet
enough
to
ignore
.
it
isn't
anymore
.
so
what
cools
me
down
at
the
end
of
the
day
isn't
air
made
sharper
by
all
the
dormant
vents
on
this
floor
that
won't
ever
cough
up
anything
i
can
use
.
it's
the
trembling
of
five
rotating
blades
behind
a
plastic
shell
,
working
hard
to
do
what
came
naturally
when
we
both
had
sharper
teeth
and
less
dust
around
our
feet
.
