A collective work between designers, builders, electricians, actors and audience. Without one piece it is different. As one member changes so does the whole. It is the Dance of Many.

Except for Lord of the Dance, where there's plenty of extras. Just like the real world. But not The Real World. And if your world is atheist, then I guess the Lord is one real big extra.

not actually. something nonexistent is not an "extra." An extra is someone you pay 50 bucks to stand in the background and keep quiet, a space filler. but even though they are just fillers, extras still exist. we atheists say he ain't even there, filler or otherwise.

Fictional characters are still characters. Many people think about this one. Their impressions of him affects my, and most people's, lives. You're don't (or aren't supposed to)think about extras. They're just a blur filling in the edges. Thats God for me.

I hate to point out the obvious, but anyway: All the world, is but a stage, where every man must play a part, and mine a sad one. Plays, or any kind of production is like an imitation of real life. Maybe we are all just players waiting for the scene to finish.

Not so. If play's were in imitation of life then no one would go and see them. We all have enough real life. A play about jhon's boring job and his bills won't draw much of a crowd. Plays are hyper-real. They're better, funnier, wittier, and more provocative than real life. That's not to say that they aren't realisticly done. What we want, though, is vermisalitude (sp?), not life-copy. If we're just waiting for the scene to end, then we'll miss the reason we came in the first place.
