i met her today, out in front of berkeley bowl. i looked far into her eyes. loving kindness and compassion flowed between us. i shook her hand. i thanked her for her leadership and bravery. she said, "i was stubborn and idealistic as a child, so that helped." i said that i had a bit of that too, but that fear usually won out. she said, "i learned a lot from fear." she is a presence. be a presence and vibrate.

I knew a Julia. She will be a cause of adness to me for the rest of my life. In Moulin Rouge, they say "The greatest thing that you can learn, is to love and be loved in return." One of the worst things is to love someone and not have them even notice. Never be more than a friend. For them to then get a boyfriend and not even tell you. And to still love them anyway.

Julia Butterfly Hill lived in a tree out West for I think almost 2 years so they wouldn't cut it down. I musta read her book "Legacy of Luna" 3 times. I wish I could be as cool as her. I wish I could actually go out in the world and defend my ideals. But maybe I'll still have my time.
