the_day_i_fell_in_love_with_a_bike_rider
australian highrise I was walking down the street one day
Minding my own business
When I fell in love with a bike rider
He was riding a cruiser
One of those bikes that remind you of
The goodole days
When kids rode over to the neighborhood
Drug store and ate chocolate malts served
By guys named Stan or Larry
The bike was shiny and blue and
So sleek
It reminded me of a cat
(If cats were bright blue, so polished that
You could see your warped reflection if you looked)
I was watching the power lines on the side
Of the road
When suddenly he rode by
Looking windblown, yet calm
His face was the most handsome face
I had ever seen
(Besides the one I spotted yesterday)
Sandy-blonde hair and a hint of a smile on his
Sun-kissed face
And I have to say,
Jeans and a t-shirt have never looked
That good on anyone
And then
(Brace yourself, it’s practically
The best moment of my life)
He looked at me.
And he smiled
At me!
I swear, I had never felt so happy in my
Whole entire fifteen-year-old life
(He smiled at me!)
He passed by me and I hate to say it
But I never saw him again
But, still, I was in love.
Who could forget a face (and a bike) like that?
I thought about him all day
Dreaming about that smile
My eyes constantly searching for
That bicycle again
Even thought I know it’s impossible
I love in NYC, for heaven’s sakes
What are the odds of running into someone like that?
But I wished I would
I really did.
