Still dripping wet from the shower, I buried my head into my fresh towel and breathed it in. It smelled of linen, soap, and just a hint of bleach. A giddy grin spread across my face, though all you'd never seen it behind all that cotton. It was reminiscent of nice hotel towels. I was ecstatic, I'd been trying for months to get this scent into my everyday. I ran the slightly rough cotton across my skin, bristling with excitement. The towels were a touch rough in that way hotel towels can be too. Small_victories.

This was two days ago but I forgot to write it. Walking down a side street, I was surprised by the strong and pleasant smell of tomatoes. I thought it was tomatoes. It lasted for several houses, then faded. I was already thinking of blathering something like, "A whole street smelled like tomatoes - almost." And then the scent came back, and I looked around and saw a city truck with a woodchipper pass by. So the smell was more likely that - some evergreen tree recently chopped up for woodchips. (I should know how tomato plants smell. Six of them grow in the garden.)
