orange_juice jane isn't fresh-squeezed orange juice just amazing? our last morning in mexico we had breakfast at a restaurant that served jugo anaranjado fresco. it was absolutely incredible. when i came home i bought a bag of oranges & tried to recreate it. i didn't have a juicer so i used a shot glass in a bowl. it was trying work, and all the papercuts in my hands from work & various other craft projects were stinging solidly. i got about two small glasses worth from about 7 oranges. & then everyone just wanted to mix them with vodka. 071204 ... crOwl wow. that sounds like i want to go to mexico. i was in puerto nueve once, with hilary and her first boyfriend rodrigo's family. we ate at an open taco bar. it was killer. i'm going to get some of that fresca next time... 071204 ... birdmad the long vanished orange groves and flower growers on Baseline Road, the little stands on the street-side of each farm. driving down and over with my mom and dad and my brother on a sunday morning after church and just a little after breakfast, buying a few jars of the fresh jhioe to drink right away and then buying the twenty pound mesh bag of oranges bringing them home, setting aside some for my sisters and my grandmother, cutting a bunch in half and breaking out the old flamingo-pink Kitchen-Aid mixer to make even more juice, the house almost literally bursting with the essence of orange sometimes we'd get a little crazy and make a batch of marmalade, though only mom and i were fond of it. 071205 what's it to you? who go blather from
