'Tis heartening to know that you did not choke in truthing, at least not to death because you lived to tell about it, or at least that you did it.

right now i want to turn up The Hives so loud everything breaks and jump around the room. right now my lungs cant' get enoug oxygen and my eyes want to cry and i just want to bleed everywhere and i want to run down the street covered in wet blood. because cats die and tough people cry and its not fair if we just ignore everything. because all anyone ever does is IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE. and no one ever tries to make a difference. if the world was burning down most people would probably reach for the gasoline.

choke is my favorite palahniuk book (worry not, i have mastered the spelling of his last name. we can call him chuck P. if it makes you feel more comfortable). i just saw the movie the other night and i am not really sure how i felt about it. it could have to do with the half-a-beer and two lungfulls of smoke i consumed before we went to the movie theatre. from what i could muster, sam rockwell did a great job (he can do no wrong by me), but denny was a relatively flat character. which is way sad, because he was one of my favorite parts of the book. also the ending was different, but then again, so was the ending to fight club. i wish they had waited and done it right. they should let people that like the book vote on whether or not it should be made into a film, and then hold a subsequent voting with the same people regarding who should or should not be allowed to make the film. ___________ the only thing about denny and the rocks is that he shows up to victor's house with one wrapped like a baby, and explains that it's for each day of sobriety. they skip over all the cool imagery that they could have used, like the rocks in the refrigerator and pretty much everywhere else in the house... and they show denny and cherry daiquiri building a wall with the rocks, but it doesn't ever go into what it becomes. i wish they had showed how the rocks increase in size as he collects then, and how his body changes and becomes stronger and tanner as he builds. in my opinion denny is the dynamic character to compare to victor... who refuses to change throughout the book. instead, like i said, they made him into a very flat, almost unchanging character, who for the most part seems to be around only to remind victor to finish his fourth step.

they augmented the sound system at work so the p.a. speakers reach all over the store now. it's kinda nice. they were testing the new speaker today so he put the cd in of the band that was playing at stonefly the night i lost it in the bathroom and bawled my eyes out and told a stranger all about it (i still wonder if his girlfriend or one of her friends overheard that conversation. the last night we really hung out. the night his girlfriend made him sleep on the couch, supposedly cause he was too drunk, but more likely cause he invited me over her house. and then got up early in the morning to drive me to the airport so i could go to san francisco. it's like that music is embedded with silence. i would like it otherwise. i would own it otherwise. but now i can't listen to it. i stood up and walked back into my studio. i tried to play the piano and sing but tears came to my eyes and choked me. that night sucked so hard that any memory of it still hurts me.
