playing
raze gavin wants to play. "you're interrupting," paul says. he needs to walk around in the back yard and throw things into other things and slam the door. he calls this "working". he tells gavin he can stand inside the house and look out the window. when gavin doesn't want to do that, paul tells him he's grounded. he says it's because of his bad attitude. after gavin isn't grounded anymore, he tosses a baseball into the air. paul makes him hit the ball with a bat. he watches him swing and miss and tells him he's going to keep doing this until he gets it right. every time he hurls horsehide-wrapped rubber at the boy he says, "play ball." gavin doesn't want to play ball but paul won't let him leave. "play ball," he says. "play ball." and he wonders why his son is throwing tantrums all the time. 250607
