my bedroom is simple, it has beige carpet, a bed with a brown/green blanket, a bookshelf, some curtains someone else put up, a hat rack, a stereo that does not work, an in-built wardrobe and a drawing my friend gave me. it's not minimalist or interesting. it declared to me yesterday that i don't care how it looks. so long as it is quiet, clean and smells nice. i don't want to choose things to fill it with. of all the things in the world, that i can and can't have, how can i choose ones that are for me? though my bedroom is one of my favourite places, i love to sleep and lie and stretch here, i love to look out the window, and to make love here. decoration might detract from those beauties.

always dim, because once disturbed the blackout curtains are difficult to rearrange in the particular way i like. grayish purple walls, wood floor. scratched antique wood furniture, framed prints on the wall, but pretty bare. advice i received when i was having trouble sleeping: don't hang out in your bedroom. reserve it for sleep and sex. then it's easier to relax when it's time for bed. good advice, turns out, though i do read in there. i read everywhere.
