The question is, what do I want to do for work? Right now I'm almost done with my library degree and I work in a library. Which is fine, but I really want to be some kind of birth worker. I want to run away to Ireland and learn to catch babies. I need to be by: the sea. I'd miss: the Northeast. I want: words, dirt, trees, garden, cities, good beer, skinny dipping, my true love, a family.

you don't need to go to ireland to learn how to catch babies. there are a lot of midwife_in_training (s) here. not that i'm advocating moving to milwaukee. ick. you just need to go to a place that has a strong alternative medicine community. coincidentally, hindus and jews (especially the super orthodox) have a tendency toward the natural medicine. i would say really the only thing that is limiting you is being near the sea. personally, i am over having four seasons in my life. winter on the western side of the great lakes sucks balls.

although, taking a closer look at your wants list, milwaukee might be a good place for you after all. the urban farming initiative was started right here ( growingpower.com ) , there is definitely plenty of amazing beer, and there is a pretty big lake here. *shrugs*
