Wake up. Shuffle thirty-nine paces into the kitchen. Cold tile. Something new. What foreign dish is this, lying on the countertop? Slowly, and with great caution, I peeled back the aluminum foil that covered the dish. What foul concotion is this!? My mother had tried to make bread pudding... TRIED being the word there. It was greenish in certain spots... and then at places had purple blotches from the raisins. Lumps of bread rose and fell, a naseuating sea of twisted grain product. Oil gathered in the hollows that were formed, and the pudding itself seemed to quiver with some unknown life-energy. I stepped back. No. No force in this world could bring me to try that disaster of a recipe. That memory still repulses me. No, I do not see what you find so appealing about rice-pudding, bread-pudding, anything-but-jello-pudding.

a little molasses, raisins, pecans, brown sugar, a thin layer of cheddar cheese (i know it sounds weird, but against the sweetness of the rest of it, it was a nice and subtle counterpoint) Just thinking about it reminds me again how much i miss my Grandma

i think it was just some pudding with bread thrown in and even then i think they were slices no raisons or custurd or crunchy sweet bread crumbs warmed in the oven it was served over ice.
