With all this incomming space junk, How come I never See a Lunar Impact? All I want to see is a Massive (1/4 mile diameter would do nicely) Asteroid Strike on Luna while I'm watching. Kick up some dust, get the Earths Attention, Is that Too Much to Hope For?

probably, even though lunar impacts do occur frequently. comets, asteroids, & meteors continue at a much slower & fairly uniform rate than they use to. why? i can't remember! :) scientists have mapped out the cycles/trajectories of many of the comets, asteroids, and meteors that are potentially any of our business. however, there remain a countless number of them that they have only begun to look at, or not even discovered at all. so, it is only a matter of time before your wish comes true. i have a table here somewhere that lists predicted planet and comet encounters to within .02 AU of the earth for the next 33 years. this list was updated november 02 i think? one moment please... ok. 1 AU is the approximate mean distance of the earth from the sun, or 92955810 miles.
