PHI IS UNDERRATED!!! Did anybody see Pi? Did you happen to watch the director's commentary? He says that the fiction of the movie lies with in the glue holding the factual parts together. Which, I believe, is this: the movie should be called Phi. The epiphany that Max Cohen has nothing to do with Pi...he looks at the nautilus shell on the beach and then everything from there on is all about spirals. The spiral in the cross section of a nautilus shell is the Golden Spiral, based on the golden ratio, based on Phi. Pi makes circles, not spirals. Phi is the number behind the spirals that Max Cohen becomes obsessed with, you even see him sketching a Golden Spiral over top of the Leonardo picture. So all the people who saw Pi running around exclaiming profound things about Pi have it all wrong. HAIL TO PHI!! 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,etc

mathematics is the basis for the universe when i look down at plants all i see is intense mathematical patterns. I see the earth as a sort of "training ground" for anyone bright enough to open their eyes and see the math. it's all around us. the only question is, are there more patterns we don't see just right below the surface? I see Phi, Pi and e are there more? I understand, for the most part, those three... there could be more.. in fact, there probably is. those three alone can't describe the universe.... or can they? who's to say..
