icy and please tell me why people insist on trying to use "its" and "it's" when they don't know how. not that it should be stricken from the language, but when one uses "it's" instead of "its" to *look* smarter, i find it very annoying and mildly nauseating. almost as bad as people using "myself", as in, danae and myself will be taking care of that.

it's a shame the dog can't reach its tail.
"it's" = "it is"
"its" is possessive

grrr...

icy oh, yes, and then we have your and you're. your is possessive you. your hat. your words. your insanely delightful contributions to blather. you're is a contraction of you and are. if one uses you're, one should be able to replace said you're with the phrase you are. you're silly. you are silly. you're a genius. you are a genius. see a pattern?
and, just on a side note, it is not your's. yours works just fine, like its. when pronouns (like it and your) become plural, they do not get apostrophes.
just a head's-up... i'll find more...

icy i looked it up on dictionary.com, and they had entries for both, but didn't mention popular mistreating of the word/phrase...
you'd think it would be, b/c after i looked at your post and looked at that again, and it just looks funny. i'm not sure what i was thinking when i typed that. :) perhaps trying to seem more intelligent... makes me look silly.
