I'd love to be someone who loves live music. But I'm just not sure I'm made for it. The huge rooms filled with strangers and the far-too-loud sounds and all those bodies all together, it distracts me. Maybe I'm going to the wrong kinds of live music. I just like music thats more personal and ... smaller.

i like my live music, we sit in the little cafe, almost everyone has something to play and to sing, i merely have my poems to read (i was told yesterday that now that i have poetry down i should move to plays), there are maybe 12 to 15 acts, about 20 people fitting more or less uncomfortably in the tiny space from 7.30 until 11.30. it is always so much fun, with al and his drunken improve ('once i cut a thousands onions on my matress in a vain attempt to make a waterbed out of tears'), cliff with his ballads (old continental songs), kyla with her mysticism (her newest song brings me to tears, which i hide behind closed eyes), the host, dean, with his monologues whenever he sees fit (last night, 'something went wrong in my son. he rejected long hair, he rejected beards, and he joined the army' dean is our modern age hippy), charlies souterhn US blues (and his oh so beautiful song about his father in WWII)... live music *sighs*
