u24 I've heard limewire is OK, let me know how you get on. 040908
...
rose No. I don't trust it. 040908

p2 if you don't want the spyware
pay for it
it's only $18.88 USD

u24 anyone used DC, or bittorrent, in fact, anyone have any informed opinions on filesharing (best to use, ethics of, etc?) 040909
...
p2 bittorrent is awesome
if you do install it
go to www.suprnova.org for a bunch of available downloads

i also use bearshare
which used to be compatible with limeware & some others
because originally they were all based on gnutella's protocol
but i'm not sure if that's still true

...
p2 as for ethics
i usually pay for software i use often
and w/ bittorrent
i usually leave it on until at least 2x the filesize has been uploaded

the way bittorrent works
was a stroke of genius
you dl from multiple ppl
and at the same time
upload to multiple ppl
so everyone shares the load
once you've dl'ed everything
you can leave bittorrent running
to help w/ the uploads

...
p2 oh yeah
beware of bearshare's free version
there is indeed spyware on that one

...
p2 having used limewire pro for the past week
i think i prefer bearshare
mostly for bearshare's "Find More Sources" feature
and its visual breakdown of individual connections for a multi-source download

but
limewire is a one time 18.88
while
bearshare is 3.26 a month

*sigh*
fiscal responsibilities
limit me to limewire
