she sits silent her shiny red toenails a testament to her neurotic hygiene i, feeling choked by my own collar, tug desperately at the edge, attempting to release my neck from its imaginary captor. her jeans are neat & blue & cuffed, unlike my dirty denim; i have worn away a history on my rear, on my knees.

this was written after reading a lot of emily fragos, in a starbucks, nauseous, staring at a priss.

i had a really awesome medieval/renaissance/baroque performance teacher in my undergrad that showed me the way. she was a mentor for me in a lot of ways actually. then i started jamming with people. nonfunctional_harmony ? i find myself moving more towards jazz in the music i write. fuck all the rules. music is my heart and my heart doesn't follow any rules, isn't always 'pretty' like mozart. improv_etude

i can't listen to a lot of bebop, but something about thelonious makes me get lost. it blew my mind when i learned that in medieval music, parallel sixths were considered a dissonance and dissonance was bad. damn hard to play in tune on the violin.
