Do agree or disagree with following thought? 'The greater the expectation the lesser the ineptitude.'

you don't think people respond positively when more is expected of them?

however, a greater expectation may cause the majority to increase their talent. Can a student surpass his teachers? think very carefully about the meaning of a teacher before answering.

..."surpass" is tricky word, if a student can out-teach his teacher, I would conclude that he has surpassed his mentor. Moreover, if we are refering the subject of instruction, as opposed to the method or means of instruction, than students in a wide variety of disciplines often surpass their teachers before they even enter the classroom.

ah yes, one argument would be that if a students learns more than the teacher, he has surpassed the teacher, however, if we take 'teacher' to mean, a thing that teaches, then the student can never exceed the knowledge of his teacher(s); If I know only what professor A has taught me, I cannot know more than professor A, however, if I then read book B, I will know more than professor A, but, my teacher will have changed; the source of my wisdom is no longer just professor A, but also, book B; how can I exceed the knowledge of A and B combined? there is no way I can no more than my teachers, when my teachers are defined as all people, books, and experiences I have known.

i can't seem to do anthing to satisfy my own standards lately. i do feel much better without that class and with that extension, but mostly just with you. tiny moments at work where someone's proud of me or impressed don't mean much unless i get to tell you about them later. and you said i wasn't needy
