the heroic theme from castlevania 2 when you enter the woods to the left of that one town...gets me through the day.
where else was this stuff posted under. the chilling spareness of metroid's opening theme was also very stirring to me as a child.
the minibosses cover of it is pretty sweet.

"ninja gaiden" is definitely up there, but one title that's never mentioned by anyone is "time lord". the game itself is kind of a piece of shit, but the music is absurdly inventive. specifically the "castle harman" theme. i don't know how the composer ever came up with something like that while limited to four note polyphony. the two themes in "mag max" are pretty catchy too.
