birdmad woke up two hours late for work today to discover that one of the cats has learned that the best way to not be disturbed by the godawful racket made by the alarm clock is to jump on top of it as soon as it starts buzzing and go to curl up over the speaker effectively muffling the sound.

101°F fever, no voice for most of the day and joints so stiff as to be near immobile

always have kibble on hand and out so the little hairballs have ample food and just filled the big bowl last night so they had water too, felt no compunction about grabbing the phone, calling in sick and embracing the fever dreams (usually i am about two degrees below what is medically classified as "normal" for body temperature but i typically never have a fever for very long either so i am weird in that respect)

dreaming in cycles and circles until about three in the afternoon when suddenly i woke up needing to go to the restroom and finally feeling the insistent rumble of an empty stomach

all told, i slept for about thirteen hours, which is three times more than my usual

i wish i could remember what i dreamed though i have vague recollections that a lot of it felt like falling,

other than taking advantage of being able to lie on top of me to capitalize on the warmth i generated while i slept, the cats seemed unperturbed
