dafremen All of the excess carbon entering the atmosphere is only excess because of the sequestered carbon being pumped out of the ground.

ALL of our carbon related issues come from fossil fuel extraction. Once again, corporate parasites are trying to externalize the cost of cleaning up their messes, while framing themselves as saviors for doing so. The carbon tax is a swindle.

Solution? Stop pulling fossil fuels out of the ground.

150,000,000,000 kg -- estimated carbon dioxide output of all cattle worldwide
(All of these sources of CO2 are releasing recently sequestered CO2. There is no net addition of CO2 to the environment. Last year's crop's absorbed it, this year's cattle release it.)

(This is all carbon that was sequestered in the ground for hundreds of millions of years. This is the primary source of modern atmospheric carbon woes. The other issue is deforestation and urbanization by land developers.)

126 times more carbon from fossil fuels, all pulled up out of the ground. Stop pulling it out of the ground. Problem mostly solved. (What to do about all of the carbon we added?) The carbon tax is a scam to avoid paying the price of the damage they've done to the planet for profit.

lialei "Fossil fuels – coal, oil and gasare by far the largest contributor to global climate change, accounting for over 75 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions and nearly 90 per cent of all carbon dioxide emissions."

So why should they keep the profits from poisoning the planet, while getting the rest of us to pay a carbon tax with them? They need to be stopped. We were better off with horses.
