i didn't hear the butterfly snicker into place, i just saw briefest silver glint to warn that the air might explode any moment, that there was trouble on the way. in a moment the floor dropped out, before i realized i was tumbling i was on my feet and loping, thump thump muffled of feet on hardwood, searching, startled, scenting the air for hints of where i was supposed to be. i cannot be kept lost for long, i oriented and growled up next to another, i had sipped of him and now i was thirsty. with sideways silence he granted me firewater, sighed and saw me forward, half-absent escort. but i heard snick-snap and knew that the world was going askew again, unscheduled departure and arrival unknown, and the darkness itself flashed a silver smile just before the floor dropped out and i hit the ground running, listening for lovelies.

our voices laugh; a low rumble in your chest- the shadows we are trying to melt into keep us quieter. your heart beats under my cheek, your fingers press themselves into my waist i can't see you smile but i know it will light up the dark.
